Delete a desktop shortcut published by GPO from all devices

In order to delete a desktop shortcut published via GPO, we will need to perform 2 actions.

  1. Disable the existing GPO that is publishing the shortcut.
    • RMC the Shortcut in GPO and select Disable.
  2. Create a new GPO Shortcut with action ‘Delete‘.

The GPO with action Delete will remove the shortcut from users/machines desktop. Not all users are logged in at the same time in an enterprise. Also not all device/assets/workstations/laptops are powered on at the same time. We may need to leave the new GPO in place for some time to ensure the unnecessary/non-required shortcut is removed from all clients.
