SCCM Error – Software Center can not be loaded with Config Manager
Was installing windows 10 update 22H2 (KB5036892), the installation didn’t complete and it returned the following error –

Software Center couldn’t restart the device and was throwing this error message.
Tried the following workarounds to overcome the issue –
- Repaired Software Center, run C:\Windows\CCM\CCMRepair.exe
- After repairing SC, try to reboot the machine using SC, check the SCNotify.log if it fails to reboot and throw the same error again
- If above step didn’t work, reinstall the Software Center client on user machine
- After reinstalling SC, try to reboot the machine using SC, check the SCNotify.log if it fails to reboot and throw the same error again
- If above steps are not working Stop SMS Agent Host Service CCMEXEC ‘Net Stop CCMEXEC’
- Go to C:\Windows\CCM\ and rename the file CCMStore.SDF to CCMStore.SDF.OLD
- Start SMS Agent Host Service CCMEXEC ‘Net Start CCMEXEC’
- Run machine policy via SCCM Configuration Manager or using ‘Configuration Manager Properties’
- Launch Software Center and reboot the device from updates
